We are not going to bore you with the details on
Thermaltake. By now
everyone knows who they are and if you don't, then you will now. The latest in
active air cooling from Thermaltake is the POLO 735 Extreme 3 in 1 Cooler. This CPU Cooler fits K7, K8
and Pentium 4 platforms and comes with all the neccessary mounting hardware.
Included with the POLO 735 is a temperature sensors and two reo-static bus
controllers that allow you to dial in the right amount of fan power. Let's check
it out:

Right off the bat I noticed the huge and very unique 3 bladed
"Delta" design 80mm fan unit sitting on top of the copper clad bracket. The fan
grill is more for function and looks and in the center of the grill you will
find Thermaltake's insignia adorned to the center. The blue shroud is the
mounting bracket for the delta and also directs the air flow into the
corresponding copper fins.
This Cooler features an all copper heat sink that contains over 60
double sided cooling fins to aid in the heat dissapation process. On top of the
cooler is a powerful 80 x 80 x 32mm, two ball bearing delta fan. This unit is
rated to operate at 12 volt with a current consumption of about 0.08~0.45A.
Current compatibilty include AMD Athlon XP up to 3400+, AMDAthlon 64 & FX
series CPU's and Intel Pentium 4 Socket 478 CPU's up to 3.2GHz
Fan operation is rated for a real time operational rotation speed
of 2000-5500 ± 10% RPM's based on the included real time controller(s). Maximum
airflow is about 72.92CFM at 55°C and uses a standard 4-pin molex power
connector. The Cooler comes pre-assembled and is ready to bolt on when you
install the desired mounting mechanism.
The three in one functions allow users to have several modes of
operation. AI function one allows for full speed operation at 5500 RPM. While
using AI function two, this setting will allow temperature control mode to
adjust the fan speed accordingly. The last AI function mode three or VR Mode,
allows manual control over the RPM range. At full RPM the Polo 735 Cooler consumes approximately 5.4watts of total
power.
This is a high density copper block assembly that weights in at
732g and this exceeds the AMD & Intel weight specifications restrictions, so
do care must be exercised when installing and or removing this block or serious
damage could result. You will not want to put this Cooler in a rough environment
or send a rig using this Cooler mounted to a system if you are going to ship a
system using this heavy weight block.
Surrounding the copper clad cooler is a blue secc steel frame that
acts as a mounting system for the 80 x 80 x 32mm fan assembly and is held in
place by four screws, two on each side of the block. Here are some general
characteristics and specifications:
