CNPS7000B-Cu LED

Introduction:
Zalman introduced the CNPS7000-Cu series CPU Coolers at COMDEX 2002 in Las Vegas Nevada and took the crowd by storm. Being one of the 2002 Best of COMDEX finalest, Zalman was a smash hit with enthusiasts around the world. Refined to what we have here today! The CNPS7000B-Cu LED, is Zalman's latest and greatest active cooler and thanks to Xoxide we are going to take it for a test drive...

The ultra quiet CNPS7000B-Cu LED takes over were the CNPS7000A-Cu leaves off. Zalman reduces the weight of the 7000B-Cu LED approximately 18g with the total weight being 755g. On the performance side of things the 7000B-Cu LED should perform better as well accoring to Zalman. The reduced weight and revised pitch of the fan blades increases air velocity while reducing noise.

When taking a closer look at the 7000B-Cu LED you can notice the evenly spaced copper fins and wonder how susceptible to damage they are. While these are easily damaged, they are quite solid and feel rugged. The fan is clear on the 7000B-Cu LED to assist the effect of the LED lights that adorn the center base just above the fan rotor. These high intensity LEDs make the blades glow blue which we will see later.

Zalman's operation fan speed comes in at 1,350 ~ 2,600 rpm. At 1,350 rpm you cannot hear the fan unless you put your ear within cutting range. This unit does not generate noise or vibration in "Silent Mode". However the decibel level is measured at 18.0 ~ 27.5 dB which at 18.0 dB that’s not bad at all, in fact that's good!

The fan diameter is 92mm which is huge for a FHS but this allows for moving more air at lower rpm's and thats the ideal airflow. An adjustable fan controller called FanMate 2 controls the noise and performance of the cooler buy adjusting the fan speed in real time. In silent mode the fan spins between 1,350 - 1,800 rpm. In low-noise mode the FanMate spins spools up the chopper to 1,800 - 2,600 rpm.

Zalman's base is made or pure copper, in fact the copper fins are tightly compressed at the base, smoothly milled and polished that gives it the appearance a solid stock of copper. Keeping the assembly together are held in place by two blocks of aluminum stock with metal fasteners keeping the FHS as one solid piece of metal stock. This design is also known as a "Flower Heatsink".

The 7000B-Cu is compatible with the following platforms:
