Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 & ATI Silencer 4

It seems The Crucible has gotten their hands on the NV Silencer 5 & the ATI Silencer 4. There is nothing quite as satisfying as a cool looking custom PC, except maybe a quiet cool looking custom PC. I for one believe that we shouldn't have to sacrifice performance for noise. Arctic Cooling seems to be on the same page. Ever since the introduction of the VGA Silencer line they have been working hard to keep the cooling performance of their products high with out the need for high speed noisy fans.

With the launch of a new series of GPUs from both nVidia and ATI, Arctic Cooling launched their second line of Silencer VGA cooling products. The Crucible just happened to be lucky enough to get both the NV5 for nVidia's 6800 Series GPU and ATI4 for ATI's x800 line. Both are fairly similar in construction with a large 70mm fan, copper base and aluminum fins. The basic difference comes in the mounting. That and the ATI4 includes a passive ram cooler for the memory chips on the back side of the card.

The Arctic Cooling Silencer really lives up to it's name. It is extremely quiet. The cooling performance is also fantastic. The Silencer provides much better cooling than the stock unit provided with these video cards. At about $40 this may seem a bit pricey, but when you consider how much better the Arctic Cooling Silencer performs when compared to stock then we would say it is money well spent.
