X700 Pro neck to neck with Geforce 6600GT? |

The Inquirer has some more details in the performance of the ATI Radeon X700 Pro. They have ran some benchmarks using Futuremark 3DMark03 and saw that the X700 Pro is very close to the nVidia GeForce 6600GT. This would mean that a new battle has started...
We have some X700 Pro scores that we would like to share with you. Unfortunally, all we can provide is the 3DMark03 score while even though we wanted to, we could not get you some others like Doom 3.
In 3DMark03, the ATI X700 Pro card will score 7600 while the nVidia GeForce 6600GT will score 7700. We are talking about that card that will cost less than $199 - possibly $179 or less, versus the more expensive nVidia card.
We are not actually sure what will be the selling price for the X700 Pro, but we know that X700 XT comes at $199 while the X700 should be $149. I guess that leaves X700 Pro to hog the $179 price mark.
We have good reason to believe that GeForce 6600GT will be faster in Doom 3 but bear in mind that X700 XT is the one to compete with 6600GT.
3DMark05, that is still a week or two away, might turn the tables. It should be Shader Model 3.0 ready...
