Sparkle GeForce GT 240 Graphics Card Styler Review
Written by Mavke

Today we actually have got two graphics cards from Sparkle, they are both these GeForce GT 240 but one has only 512MB while the other has 1GB of memory. So, that means we will be going into details about this video card, but it is also a comparison of what this 512MB is worth when compared to the double amount in terms of performance. We are very curious ourselves, and ultimately surprised by what we found out. Some might say more is better when it comes to memory, and in general that is an true statement though sometimes less is more and all that depends on what you get with the lesser package. That is what makes it so interesting, what is less versus more, and who comes out on top? - TestFreaks

Since we have got two cards, we are going to do this quick and easy. The first on is the 512MB edition, and it just looks the same as the bigger version but having less memory chips. As such these don't look very different really in terms of the layout of the board and the heatsink, while one is surely packed with a lot more electronics. There is another difference as well, which is the memory type itself. The 512MB version uses the more advanced GDDR5 type versus the other more known GDDR3 type and it also feature the TurboCache technology, which means it can use an additional 1GB of system memory if somehow wanted.

We are truly amazed, we thought the graphics card with 1GB on board would do better. Sure they are not the best for gaming overall, light gaming and gaming at low settings will work, but don't expect to max it out and have decent frame rates with this card. Both video cards are quiet even under load, so they could work well in an home theater system. We have got a Blu-ray player in our computer and popped in a movie, it played fine. Again we are stunned to say the least that the 512MB card did better. Both cards though perform fairly well, or at least as well as you might expect them to for being a lower end card.
