When you think video cards, you think of those major vendors such as Sapphire, Gigabyte, EVGA and XFX among a few others between these two rival camps. Well, today we are looking at a board from a company that is unknown to most Americans, but has actually been around for over twenty years, Axle. Based out of Hong Kong, Axle primarily sells their NVIDIA based products around Asia and Europe which is why they have remained under the radar to most end users in America. They are currently only available at a small online e-tailer, Fookbuy and they hope to spread across to all major retailers and this will sure be a welcome addition as more manufacturers means more competition. - Legit Reviews

Axle GeForce GT 240 512MB Arctic Cool Card Review

The Axle GeForce GT 240 we have is a fairly standard version, having the same clocks and specifications as the NVIDIA reference design, except its own high performance Arctic Cooling heatsink and fan with this unique fan shroud found only on Axle's version. Axle also offers a GDDR3 version in addition to the faster GDDR5 version we have today, with identical specifications aside from memory bandwidth. Looking from the end of the card, you can tell it is dual slot, though it is not as high in performance as many dual slot video cards. This was designed for frigid temperatures compared to most equivalent graphics cards.

Looking at the top of the retail box you can see the expected things with a very attractive image and the main features with a nice chilled by Arctic Cooling logo. On the back, there are several graphics for flash and little else, with a key features list on the right hand side. The Axle GeForce GT 240 initially isn't a card to write home about, as it is identical to the reference design as stated before. Though there is more which is uncovered while overclocking the graphics card which gave us a 649MHz core speed. Based on benchmarks, we would say that the Axle GeForce GT 240 is a more than capable card given its $100 budget.

This board brings all the latest and greatest technology from NVIDIA to the table such as PhysX, 3D Vision and OpenCL with great overclocking value to enhance performance even further. This Arctic Cooling heatsink and fan which cool this video card down to amazing temperatures is a great addition to its power saving features as well. We are excited to see factory overclocked versions of this card coming to market to bring out the core's true potential, though for most budget minded users, this card is an exceptional upgrade that does not require a beefy power supply with PCI Express connectors, making installation as easy as ever.

Again, our only gripe with this board is the height of the retention screws on the back, limiting multi GPU usage. That is what makes it difficult to call this card great for folding, because there are many users such as ourselves who use more than just one budget card. The Axle GeForce GT 240 doesn't shatter any records being identical to the reference design, although coupled with the Arctic Cooling solution, it turns into a great performer for raw power as well as temperatures and power consumption for the budget user.
