The first GeForce GTX 275 graphics cards we saw came at the 11th hour in our testing of the new AMD Radeon HD 4890 card back in April, it is essentially one half of a GeForce GTX 295 dual GPU card with slightly increased clocks. While that doesn't sound too exciting it does create an high performance single GPU graphics card with a low price in comparison to the GeForce GTX 285 with the only real technical differences between these two cards being the memory bus width and frame buffer size. Today we are looking at a new Galaxy model which offers a custom cooler and overclocked specifications to offer better than average performance, for a more than attractive and competitive price. - PC Perspective Galaxy GeForce GTX 275 OC 896MB Graphics Review
The cooler design on the Galaxy GeForce GTX 275 OC version is pretty unique design with three large fans and a custom heatpipe cooler. This GeForce GTX 275 chipset is a very powerful GPU as it actually matches the GeForce GTX 285 in most specifications including having 240 stream processors and very high clock speeds. You can see by looking at the back of the card that the cooler is actually longer than the card itself. The reference GeForce GTX 275 card actually only required a pair of 6-pin power connects but this overclocked model requires a 6-pin and 8-pin which should allow for some additional overclocking head room. The GeForce GTX 275 is a terrific performing option for users looking at an high-end single GPU gaming solution for their current or updated gaming system. And the GT200 architecture is proving to be quite versatile in terms of performance scaling and features and even though the AMD lineup of Radeon HD 4800 cards is impressive and competitive, you really are going to have just a great gaming experience either way you decide to go. The Galaxy overclocked GeForce GTX 275 offers a modest performance increase over the reference cards on the market though we truly think that with some extra tweaking more is certainly feasible. The Galaxy GeForce GTX 275 OC edition takes this very popular GPU offering and tweaks it slightly with overclocked core, shader and memory speeds and includes a higher performing custom cooler design that will allow you to push the GPU even higher if you want to. In fact, if you are paying the premium price for this model, we would actually suggest you take advantage of the new cooler to get some additional performance out of the card. Galaxy is certainly trying to build a brand for themselves in the US market and custom offerings like this that stand out will certainly go a long way to solidifying a spot with all PC gamers.
