Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT Low Power Express Review
Written by Mavke

The graphics processing unit is a compulsory hardware for a computing system, either discrete or integrated. Today integrated GPU's such as Intel G45 are much better than those in old days but if you are building a true gaming system then a discrete GPU will be much better. That is also the reason why you have these graphics cards which come with more power than you could ask for to bring all those games alive. As such you have NVIDIA who is bringing discrete graphics chipsets on the market so we can all enjoy game play like never before. Today we have a quick look into the Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT, a decent performance graphics card which comes with fair price and performance. - Hardware Bistro

This Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT Low Power is packed with a cool looking black packaging, neither too big nor too small. As usual, some advanced technologies and features of the cards are printed on the packaging box with eye-catching effects and this is same for the Low Power version as well. Besides the outer soft cardboard, the Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT Low Power is also packed with another cardboard which is more solid to ensure the graphics board is protected well. Currently Galaxy is actually selling three versions GeForce 9800 GT, but the Low Power version does somehow standout from the competition offerings.

Basically the GeForce 9800 GT is the successor of GeForce 8800 GT which is one of the legend cards that provides promising results over the predecessor. The Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT Low Power is an improved version as it targets for those systems without a PCI Express power cable, which is good news for those who are still not ready to upgrade their power supply but still planning to have a decent graphics card. The Low Power version that we received is a black version where the cooler is improved. And a blue blower is used for this cooler which is quite common among high-end graphics card coolers these days.

We are quite satisfied with the Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT Low Power although it is not as good as the original GeForce 9800 GT but considering this card comes with advantage where no additional power is required it can make up easily for the small loss. Besides that their dual slot cooler is much more silent than the original stock cooler which we like very much. And last but not least, the Galaxy GeForce 9800 GT Low Power is just being sold at $120 which is pretty cheap. If you are looking for a decent performance graphics card without extra spending for a new power supply then this one is definitely a wise choice.
