ATI Radeon HD 4830 CrossFire Graphics Card Review
Written by Mavke
Thursday, 05 March 2009

At first we want to thank AMD for providing us the second ATI Radeon HD 4830 video card sample for testing a CrossFire configuration, and allowing us to take a closer look at the gaming performance. And as such we will check out the ATI Radeon HD 4830 CrossFire configuration to see how much performance gain we will have compared to a single card and also it will be interesting to see how the Radeon HD 4830 CrossFire config will compare to their single Radeon HD 4870 graphics accelerator. Somehow we do expect that it should be able to outperform the single card solution, and also offer some greater overclocking potential. And as such we will have a good view on the performance difference. - ShopTalk

We really liked how this setup performed and it really has an excellent price to performance ratio. With just the drivers installation no problems occurred and the cards do not heat up much at all when compared to the Radeon HD 4870 or the Radeon HD 4870 X2 cards. Also, the fans are pretty silent compared to the other big video cards. The boards do not have a dual slot design and we could fit our sound card perfectly right under the second card from the CrossFire setup. On that aspect it is really nice to have a single slot cooling fitting these Radeon HD 4830 graphics cards and delivering outstanding performance and experience.

If you want to have a setup that surpasses in most cases the Radeon HD 4870 1GB edition, having less noise than the standard Radeon HD 4870 cooling setup and have a lot of room for overclocking, we highly recommend this Radeon HD 4830 CrossFire solution. It is just perfect, you can always start with one and buy a second one later on and combine these together to bump the performance to enjoy your favorite games.
