EVGA e-GeForce GTX 260 55nm SSC Edition Preview
Written by Mavke

Now EVGA has sent us their GeForce GTX 260 with 216 shaders and 55nm and we pounced on the chance to do some preliminary testing. The card runs at 675MHz, and although it could probably be overclocked even further, we saved this test for some other occasion. The first impression is great. The card runs neck to neck with the GeForce GTX 280 at reference speed which is impressive and the card is on average around twenty percent faster compared to the old reference clocked GeForce GTX 260 with 216 shaders at 65nm. And these new versions will certainly come at higher overclocked levels, and as such give you an idea which are the 55nm versions which are the preferred choice. - FudZilla

From what we know EVGA is the first company to really market somehow the 55nm version of the GeForce GTX 260 which is not really what NVIDIA did want to see but in the end such a big brand you can't just ignore. That does mean though that with EVGA you can really go for the 55nm version which might be a but higher priced than their previous edition and as such leaves the choice up to you. Their new style does look good, with a more black design and sticker on the front to differentiate the cards. But the box doesn't really reveal the 55nm aspect, so you will need to look at the reference number details.

Note that the card is clocked much higher than the reference GeForce GTX 260, 65nm that works at 575MHz and that of course results in the 55nm version being super clocked card being much faster. We will have more tests coming up where we'll do some more detailed testing, but until then, you can see that the 55nm version of the GeForce GTX 260 at super clocked speeds might be considered as your graphics card for early 2009. The card shows a lot of potential so stay put until we come back with some more tests and overclocking scores.
