With the current state of the US economy in the toilet, watching every penny is on a lot of people's mind. If you are a gamer, most times that is not possible as you want the best available performance, and that usually comes with a hefty price tag. When you find the delicate balance between price and performance, it can certainly bring a smile to your face. AMD has been behind the ball a bit on the last series of graphics cards in the green versus red race. With the Radeon HD 4800 series ATI is looking to regain some lost ground across all platforms, and the Radeon HD 4600 series is the mid-range category. The Palit Radeon HD 4670 Super is aimed squarely at the budget minded gamer. - HiTechLegion Palit Radeon HD 4670 512MB Super Graphics Preview
It's small foot print and minute power consumption, the card is small enough for home theater PC duty, yet powerful enough to get your game on. The Radeon HD 4670 core is basically a die shrink of their Radeon HD 3800 core with the same features. The Radeon HD 4670 video card has 320 stream processors, with 512MB of GDDR3 memory on a 128-bit interface. The icing on the cake is the connection variety that Palit has selected. The Palit Radeon HD 4670 Super comes packaged in box slightly larger than the card itself. Frobot is proudly displayed across the front of the box with his trusty blaster in hand. Flipping the box over reveals a quick specs sheet in various languages. Getting the Palit Radeon HD 4670 out of the box we are greeted with the pink anti-static bubble wrap bag with the card inside. After removing the card you can see the large cooler on the Radeon HD 4670. The dual slot back plane proudly displays the HDMI connector, DisplayPort, dual link DVI and analog port. The back of the card sports half of the 512MB memory configuration. The memory is Samsung 1.0ns which is rated for 2000MHz operation. This does leave some extra room for overclocking on the memory aspect at least, but also on the graphics core. With a price tag of under $100 the Palit Radeon HD 4670 Super, there is just no reason you should not be running this card if building a budget box. The performance isn't blistering fast and you won't be pushing super high resolutions, but if you are building a budget box, you most likely are not going to have a 30inch monitor. The Palit Radeon 4670 Super perfoms very well despite the meager price tag. The ability to run today's games with some eye candy turned on at decent resolutions is enough to recommend this card to anyone on a budget. The small foot print and lower power consumption make it a no brainer. The Palit Radeon HD 4670 Super is an awesome little card for entry level to mid-range performance. The ability to run today's games with playable frame rates, and decent graphics output make the Radeon HD 4670 a must for the entry level gamer. The versatility of the Radeon HD 4670 makes it well suited for the all around computer. With the ability to playback high definition content, switch to some gaming, and do it without breaking a sweat, or your power bill is a welcome feature. We would love to see the performace delta running the Radeon HD 4670 in CrossFire configuration, which should be interesting.
