Tweak News has done a review on the nVidia GeForce 6800 GT PCI Express graphics card. When it comes to serious PCI Express gaming and when only the best will suffice for your elite gaming rig, you have two clear video chipset choices for maximum gaming performance. On nVidia's side, you have their 6800 line of VPU with choice ranging from the standard 6800, the 6800GT and the bad boy 6800 Ultra. On the other side of the fence you have ATI's premium line of VPU with three choices between the X800 Pro, the slightly faster X800XT and their top of the line X800XT Platinum.
nVidia GeForce 6800 GT PCI Express Review
Boiling down my thoughts on this impressive card and chipset is practically a no-brainer. If you are considering buying an enthusiast videocard and were leaning towards the 6800 Ultra, don't bother. Grab a 6800GT, overclock it and smile knowing you have just kept $150 in your wallet with the same performance.
Overall, the card is quiet compared to its older brother, comes with excellent single slot stock cooling, thrashes frame rates faster than anything I have ever seen in my lab and let's not forget if you pick up another one you can slide both of them in the new nForce4 SLI motherboards for more rendering power than you will need for months or even years to come.
If you have the money and feel the need for gaming speed, and 6800GT alternative whether AGP or PCI Express from any manufacturer will have you capable of running Doom 3, Half Life 2, Far Cry or any game on the market. |
