We've finally confirmed that NVIDIA has a GeForce 9800 GT card in the pipeline and it is about to launch it soon. The card is codenamed D9P-40 and, just like the GeForce 8800 GT, it supports 512MB of GDDR3 memory. We are probably looking at a few less shader units or simply a rebrand of the GeForce 8800 GT card. We also know that NVIDIA is working on a 55nm version of its G92 core, but we don't think that this core might make it for this product. We guess that the GeForce 8800 GT will simply be sold out rather soon and NVIDIA will simply swap the card with a higher number and a bit better specifications. And it should launch very soon as far as we know. - FudZilla NVIDIA to Launch GeForce 9800 GT Graphics Version
It is been over eight months since ATI commercially introduced the RV670 55nm chips, and these were followed by the Radeon HD 3450 and Radeon HD 3650 in the same architecture. The whole ATI line-up is based on these 55nm chips and NIDIA is just about to try to get its first 55nm chips out. One of the first will be G92b, which is basically a G92 architecture shrunk to 55nm. We have heard, but we still cannot confirm, the claim that the GeForce 9800 GT will have this 55nm chip inside, which probably means at least a bit higher clock settings at lower power consumption, which will surely do got on the market.
