XFX GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB Black Edition Preview
Written by Mavke
Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Today we are taking a look at a video card from XFX called the XFX GeForce 9800 GTX Black Edition. This is the highest overclocked GeForce 9800 GTX that XFX sells, which should make this one of the best performing GeForce 9800 GTX cards available. As you all know, XFX is already providing a full product range of GeForce 9800 GTX cards that are pre-overclocked, though this Black Edition goes just that one step further. In that aspect this is the top that one can reach when looking for a GeForce 9800 GTX that has that something more than anyone else. For the hardcore gamers who just don't believe in the GX2 solution, this is certainly one graphics card that will blow you away. - I4U News

So what does this special version form XFX has to offer that their competition doesn't? The XFX GeForce 9800 GTX Black Edition has a core clock of 760MHz and a memory clock of 2280MHz for the 512MB of GDDR3 memory. The shader clock for the XFX card is running at 1900MHz. This video card is PCI Express 2.0 compliant, HDTV and HDCP ready. Outputs include dual DVI and a DVI to HDMI adapter is included. XFX also bundles a full game copy of Call of Duty 4 with the graphics card. This video card comes in an all black package and an all black GeFoce 9800 GTX, though still featuring the reference cooling solution.

The XFX GeForce 9800 GTX Black Edition is the single fastest GeForce 9800 GTX we have checked out to date. XFX also offers its fantastic double lifetime warranty and bundles the card with one of the best multiplayer shooters around. When you figure in the resale value of the card after you are done with it thanks to the double lifetime warranty and the Call of Duty 4 game its bundled with you really can't go wrong with the Black Edition. If you are in the market for a GeForce 9800 GTX the Black Edition needs to be at the top of your list.
