EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GTX SSC Version Card Review
Written by Mavke
Friday, 11 April 2008

EVGA has been kind enough to send us a sample of their fastest GeForce 9800 GTX card, the e-GeForce 9800 GTX SSC edition running at 770MHz. This is one of the few GeForce 9800 GTX cards whose frequencies exceed 750MHz, and there was even some talk that no company would sell this cards at such high clocks. The card's reference speed is 675MHz, so EVGA overclocked it by as much as 95MHz. Of course, we immediately installed it and put it through its paces, and the result we got in 3DMark06 was around 12793 marks. Compared to reference card's results in the same benchmark, the EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GTX SSC's result is better by about four percent. - FudZilla

As such this is the highest pre-overclocked GeForce 9800 GTX video card at this moment, and EVGA has certain made it worthwhile. Next to the high core clock speed, also the memory and shader have been tweaked and give 2300MHz and 1944MHz respectively. Though being clocked quite high, the card's core ran cool and hit a maximum of 74°C which is actually quite okay. There might even be more to gain out of this EVGA version although for any gamer who doesn't do their overclocking, this is certain one graphics card to keep in mind if you want to enjoy some extra gaming experience and performance.
