The Hong Kong based Sapphire has been in the hardware industry for quite a while, manufacturing primarily video cards and motherboard chipsets. It's the largest supplier of ATI based cards in the world, and was the first to release a card with an HDMI connector. We got our hands on Sapphire's Radeon HD 3650 OverClock edition, a faster, more spacious version of the mid-range card from the red team. And yes, this is a more advanced version which higher clock settings and also more memory to serve the public. We will subject this video card to a battery of tests to see how it measures up to one of the best that the green team has to offer, like the GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card. - ThinkComputers Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 512MB Video Card Review
The Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 OverClock edition box is a standard ATI based card box with lots of red and black, with a pretty girl holding a gun on the front. It mentions support for PCI Express 2.0, DirectX 10, high definition video decoding and what's this surround audio support? The Radeon HD 3650 OverClock edition card is small, well shorter than many cards we have used. It's on a dark teal PCB and uses a single slot fan decorated similarly to the packaging, meaning a girl with a big gun. The rear bears a sticker with the HDCP logo, certifying that the card is compliant with HDMI's high definition content protection scheme. We arenot going to lie, we've been on the green team for many years now. We abandoned our ATI roots when we became a Linux enthusiast and ATI's Linux support was atrocious. For a sub-$100 card, the Radeon HD 3650's performance is quite awesome. It's a great home theatre PC card and HDMI out with audio is a boon to those who have HDTV's and want to minimize cabling. It's strange that the card couldn't run Supreme Commander. We could not track down a fix, and the game worked fine when we reinstalled the GeForce 8800 GTX video card.
