We have done some pretty embarrassing things in the past, like thinking that we're talking to a male over messenger in Taiwan, to then call and discover that it's actually a female. This is one company however where we wouldn't want to walk up to and try to pronounce the name. We are assuming it's probably said along the lines of Vi-Koo, but we could be so far off the mark. This is the first card we've seen from VVikoo, and what a card it is. Expecting nothing more than a reference design we were pleasantly surprised when we opened the box to discover just how cool this GeForce 9600 GT is. If first impressions are anything to go by we're definitely going to be impressed. - TweakTown VVikoo GeForce 9600 GT 512MB Turbo Board Review
The box isn't really anything to write home about though it does tell us everything we need to know. Across the bottom we can see the brand while the left shows us the model along with some of the main features. We can also see that the card has 512MB of GDDR3 memory on a 256-bit wide bus. The right shows us the standard line-up of NVIDIA logos along with a sticker that lets us know that a full version copy of Tomb Raider Anniversary game is included within the bundle. Turning the box over, we have a bit of a blurb on the card along with some of the features on the right in a multitude of languages and various details. When you pull the card out of the box you see this massive, funky copper heatsink that takes up majority of the card. We can see four copper pipes running out the bottom and a decent sized fan located in the middle of the card. The top of the card also carries a retention like piece of metal which is designed to stop the card from bending and damaging the SLI connector, or anything else for that matter. Doing the normal sweep of the card there isn't anything too out of the ordinary. We have the standard 6-pin PCI Express connector located at the back of the card. While we have the single SLI connector located across the top. We can also see the little white connector next to the SLI connector which is the plug for the cable included in the bundle. If you plug this into your motherboard or sound card you will get sound out through the HDMI port. Just like the Palit card we saw the other week, this thing is fully loaded with connectors. With the card carrying a Turbo name at the end, it made sense that the card was going to be overclocked. As we can see, we have a 700MHz core, 1750MHz shader clock and 2000MHz memory clock. So, a quite nice increase done by VVikoo over the default speeds settings of the reference GeForce 9600 GT graphics card. The VVikoo was another really stand-out offering like Palit with their GeForce 9600 GT Sonic video card. Both cards carry big clocks and a large amount of connectivity. If you had to have a choice between the two, it would be kind of hard to decide, but the cooler on the VVikoo is absolutely kickass and really manages to keep the card very cool. Where VVikoo lacks however is in the availability department. We really couldn't find the brand let alone the model anywhere. The brand has only really popped up recently though, so let's hope that they're in the middle of getting some distributors around the world. Really, with a card like this they shouldn't have too many dramas. We absolutely just love this GeForce 9600 GT. VVikoo knows what they're doing, and with products like this they can be a competitive company on the graphics card market. It's really going to come down to price, and we can only guess at what that would be for now, so we'd rather not. Let's hope we see some more stand-out products from the company in the near future.
