Taking a Closer Look... Essentially we are looking at a GeForce 6800 Ultra on PCI Express, differences being the NV45 has on-chip HSI support that bridges the GeForce 6800 Ultra to GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX. Theoretically differences are next to none in other regards. Performance will be that of a reference series GeForce 6800 Ultra.
Out with the old and in the new! Designed for PCI Express x16 the GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX is taking on a new age in high-speed interconnect (HSI) technology for bidirectional interconnect protocol conversion. Sporting over over 220 million transistors, built on a 0.13 micron process technology, using advanced thermal management and thermal monitoring, this card packs superb power and image quality.
The GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX is designed with dual DVI connectors for interfacing to the latest technologies. Integrated NTSC/PAL TV encoder supporting resolutions up to 1024x768. Scalable Link Interface or SLI is a new feature of the GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX allowing two cards to operate in tandem for even more insane 3D graphics experience.
This card runs at 400MHz core and 550MHz memory (1.1GHz effective clock). Speaking of memory this bad boy runs the latest 1.6ns 256MB GDDR3, using a 256-bit advanced memory interface, packaged in 40mm x 40mm, BGA flip-chip design.
Dual 400MHz RAMDACs support dual QXGA displays with ultra-high, ergonomic refresh rates–up to 2048x1536 upto 85Hz. And on top, DVD and HDTV-ready MPEG-2 decoding up to 1920x1080 esolution.
Full 128-bit studio-quality floating point precision through the entire rendering pipeline with native hardware support for 32bpp, 64bpp, and 128bpp rendering modes.
Microsoft® Video Mixing Renderer (VMR) supports multiple video windows with full video quality and features in each window, featuring high-quality video scaling and filtering. The NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra requires a stable, 12-volt 350 watt power source for best performance, reliability, and enjoyment.
The NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX is the same size as the last generation GeForce FX5950 Ultra. Not only that, but the GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX is essentially a NV40 on PCI Express. So you can expect about the same performance as its AGP counterpart offers.
