NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 Quad SLI Graphics Review
Written by Mavke

We've never before found ourselves in the position where we've been this rushed off our feet to get an article online. This afternoon we were emailed the Quad SLI driver for Windows Vista. At the same time, a second GeForce 9800 GX2 rocked up in our hot little hands. It was clear what we needed to do. The problem is that we thought we would have a bit more time, so we haven't had the chance to organize our SLI motherboard and what not yet. We deal with a lot of overseas companies, but it's always nice to have some local Australian contacts handy. And to that extend we have been able to come up with a system to run our Quad SLI benchmarks and some limited gaming titles to enjoy. - TweakTown

Officially, Quad SLI isn't due out till the 25th, so there is still a high chance that NVIDIA have another driver up their sleeves. We can see that we just couldn't play Crysis at entry widescreen resolution which is a bit of a bummer due to the fact that at medium we think we could have pulled out some decent numbers. The Crysis numbers were just literally draw dropping at medium. At one point, we managed to see the counter in Crysis get to 120 frames per second when we started to mess around with the system a bit more. Of course these are some early drivers to support Quad SLI and nevers versions will come.

Since we were so hopped up we still found ourselves with a spring in our step, so we thought we would do a bit of overclocking. We tried 4.6GHz, then 4.8GHz but the system didn't really want to have a bar of it. The sweet spot was 4.4GHz, which is quite a nice overclock from the stock 3.0GHz. We managed not only to scream past 20.000 3DMarks, but climbed up over 22.000 3DMarks with this extra overclocking. It was a long night, and while we had hoped to have cranked this article out last night, due to getting home very early it just wasn't going to happen. But we finally did get it online at last.
