Tuesday is the launch day of NVIDIA's highly anticipated GeForce 9800 GX2 and we can tell you that the card is at least a bit or even more faster than the Radeon HD 3870 X2. Its double GPU's work at 600MHz clock speed and the memory at 1800MHz effective. NVIDIA uses two times 512MB so total of 1024MB of high-end GDDR3 memory. The card also has two PCB's and a big cooler in between that takes care of the heat. The card is hot, big massive but it is the fastest thing around. We will have some performance numbers shortly but we are still fighting to finish up on time. What a day, and for what it is worth we still have some cool stories for this Tuesday next to the GeForce 9800 GX2 that is. - FudZilla Tuesday Finally The GeForce 9800 GX2 Launch Day?!
In 3DMark06 the performance of the GeForce 9800 GX2 numbers are very close to the Radeon HD 3870 X2, but once you start playing games and go for the higher settings and resolutions, the two G92 chips kick in and show their leadership over the ATI part. On average the GeForce 9800 GX2 will end up at least ten percent, and sometimes even more faster than ATI's flagship Radeon HD 3870 X2 card. And at the same time, the GeForce 9800 GX2 will end up significantly more expensive, but in this ultra high-end market the one that can push the most frame per second is the one that counts, and scores. We believe that if you want a great high-end card and to save some money, the ATI Radeon HD 870 X2 might be the better choice, but if you want the fastest card around without compromises, then the GeForce 9800 GX2 will be a safer bet. Next to that NVIDIA has decided to launch the Quad SLI driver one week after the first single GeForce 9800 GX2 articles are published. Although the card launches on the 18th, there won't be any drivers for Quad SLI until the 25th. In fact NVIDIA is working on the drivers and they need to wait for some of the top system integrators, such as Alienware, to prepare Quad SLI ready systems.
