Rage3D's Catalyst Driver Comparison
Written by JRd1st
Saturday, 13 November 2004
Rage3D has an ATI Catalyst Driver version comparison. ATI releases almost every month a new version of their Catalyst Drivers. Often they fix bugs and improve the compability and sometimes they also increase the performance in different applications. In this comparison we don't want to test the improvements in games or bug fixes, but the increases in speed with the newer versions. Beyond that we also tested the modded drivers Omega, DNA, and Evolution.

ATI did with the Catalyst 4.11 Beta a real improvement. But the Catalyst 4.11 didn't fulfill our expectations. The performance improvements are up to 25% und the image-quality didn't decrease. The reason for this could be the fixing of the "256MB-bug". But the Catalyst 4.11 is always a bit and in Far Cry on high details even much slower. Nevertheless we can do nothing different than saying: "Good work, ATI". The Catalyst 4.11 (Beta) is a very good driver.
