A few independent sources have confirmed that NVIDIA's dual chip GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in early March. This is a few weeks later than originally planned. NVIDIA decided to push this card into March and it looks like it might launch in the week following CeBIT. We would expect that NVIDIA will announce this card on the first day of CeBIT or earlier, as their partners will be there to show these cards to the world. We will report on a fixed date once we get it. The GeForce 9600 GT however launches on February 19th. The GeForce 9800 GX2 is reported to be hot, as two G92 chips can dissipate quite a lot of heat, but this shouldn't stop the card from having top notch performance. - FudZilla NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 (bi-G92) Launch in March?
Some of NVIDIA partners have said that they will be ready to showcase NVIDIA's GeForce 9800 GX2 cards at CeBIT. The card will follow in the steps of the previous GeForce 7950 GX2, which was a dual PCB card featuring two G71 chips each having their own 512MB of memory. Similarly the upcoming GeForce 9800 GX2 will also be a dual PCB design. So, the launch will be either at CeBIT or shortly before CeBIT. We will tell you a more accurate date when we get it, but it looks like NVIDIA is doing the final tweaks to it and at this time the company should be starting production to reach availability at CeBIT or a bit later. As the GeForce 9800 GX2 will be build around two PCB's each featuring one G92 chip. This in itself might not be the most exciting thing in the world, but what made us take notice, was that each of the PCB's seem to feature 1GB of memory on this specific card. Now we can't sure that this is the case, as it could simply correlate to the total ammount of memory on the card, but comparing other manuals some manufacturer it seems to imply that this card might very well come with 2GB of graphics memory. But at least it shows that these cards can't be too far away.
