NVIDIA's yet to be released GeForce 9800 GX2 in the flesh. We reveal some of the specifications and what should be expected. The best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 card is as a GeForce 8800 GPU that has been die shrunk to 65nm and placed in an SLI configuration in a single card. The GeForce 9800 GX2 is very reminiscent of the GeForce 7950 GX2 of days past. And we loved the GeForce 7950 GX2 at launch, but terrible support and diminishing returns soon painted it as one of NVIDIA's biggest failures. The GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in late February or early March as it now stands and will replace the GeForce 8800 Ultra card in NVIDIA's high-end product lineup. - FudZilla NVIDIA's GeForce 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Card Unveiled
The GeForce 9800 GX2 is said to be at least 30% faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra and will support Quad SLI. It's a dual slot card and only has two DVI connectors, which are located at the middle of each of the two blanking plates on the card which looks quite odd. It relies on a two PCB design, which makes sense in terms of the location of the DVI connectors. The GeForce 9800 GX2 is using a pair of 65nm G92 GPU's, the same that you can find in the new GeForce 8800 GT and GTS. The card has 1GB of memory and a total of 256 stream processors which indicates that this is a dual G92 based GeForce 8800 GTS.
