Inno3D has generally impressed us with what they've had on offer. Normally we look at something a bit different from Inno3D, more often than not it's something with a nice fancy cooler. While this time around we're looking at another GeForce 8800 GT with a stock cooler, this particular model from Inno3D is an OC model and comes with some decent clock speeds so it was considered worthwhile. The GeForce 8800 GT's stock levels seem to be slowly improving lately, but with the release of the GTS just around the corner and the newer 256MB model coming as well it will be interesting to see how many more GeForce 8800 GT 512MB cards we will see on shelves. - TweakTown Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT 512MB OC Graphics Review
This is the first Inno3D card that we've seen which isn't a part of the iChill series. The front of the box shows us a pretty standard kind of setup as far as name, brand and model go. The bottom right corner mentions the card is PCI Express and comes with GDDR3 memory. The top of the card has a little sticker that mentions the word overclock, and towards the bottom we see that Tomb Raider Anniversary is included in the bundle. The back of the box is much of the same old with just an expansion of details on what the card can do along with where it sits in the market against the other NVIDIA based chipsets. Like you probably expected, the card uses the default cooler which literally takes up the whole front of the card. There's nothing to see but the plastic cover and small fan. Inno3D have gone for a bit of gold writing on the cooler to mention the model, brand and the fact that it's overclocked. The card looks great on a whole. Hidden towards the rear of the card we have a single PCI Express power connector. Continuing to move around the card we also find a single SLI connector sitting at the top of the card. What this means is that it doesn't look like the card will support Tri-SLI due out later this year or early next. The standard GeForce 8800 GT comes in with a core clock of 600MHz and a memory clock of 1800MHz effective on the 512MB of GDDR3 memory. Inno3D bump this up with their OC model and giving us a core clock of 650MHz, 1650MHz shader clock and memory clock of 1900MHz effective. Whilst not a huge overclock, this should be enough for us to see a decent boost in performance. There is only so much you can do with a card that carries a stock cooler, you take the clocks up to a level that your company is comfortable with and chuck in a decent full version game. Inno3D have managed to do both of these. Sure we are not a fan of the Tomb Raider series these days but no doubt there are still a lot of people out there who are, and we could think of worse games that could come with a graphics card. You're going to pay a premium for an overclocked card, but the price can more often than not come in below the price of stock clocked cards from companies like ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI. Word is that the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB stock is growing over the next week or two, and hopefully this is true but we won't really know for sure until it happens. We also have a new It's becoming difficult to decide which video card to buy between the vast range of models currently available. With competitive prices and stock issues it's never been so hard, but in all honesty we can say that if you picked up the Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT OC version you're not going to be disappointed. It handles most scenarios very well and if you want to overclock a bit more you shouldn't have too much drama as we rose up to over 700MHz core and 2000MHz effective on the memory with just a short amount of time.
