VVIKOO are an up and coming GPU manufacturer based in Paris, France. This makes a nice change from the usual dominance of the Eastern and Western companies, these guys aren't too far from home. We recently checked out their GeForce 8600 GT which turned out very well indeed. Today however, we will be looking at something from the other camp, the Radeon HD 2600 PRO graphics card. So yes although being a quite new company, VVIKOO is not just playing on one horse but going for the two main competitors for building their graphics cards. And they have made a good impression by having in their range a couple of pre-overclocked versions to please the various tweakers. - XSReviews VVIKOO Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB Turbo Review
The packaging is a dirty gold colour which usually would come off quite tacky, but some how VVIKOO have pulled it off by not making it too flashy. The box layout is the same as the one for their GeForce 8600 GT Turbo that we saw previously, sparse front, with logo and some feature listing. The back is again, typical of VVIKOO style. It has the same camp wasp logo and some more detailed information on the product. We couldn't believe how small the card was. At only a few inches long it looks very neat and although it doesn't seem like it will pack much punch, it's certainly a lot prettier than the GeForce 8600 GT. The VVIKOO Radeon HD 2600 PRO Turbo is an impressive little fella. It's tiny, looks reasonably good and overclocks a fair old way. However, it's performance is a little lacking in the gaming department. Older titles like Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. would easily be playable with this with middle ground settings, but forget about playing modern games with this card at anything but the bottom settings. What this card is really aimed at though is the home theatre PC crowd. Due to it's size and relatively good performance to price ratio, it makes for an excellent buy for a media PC. The Radeon HD 2600 PRO may have it's down sides, meaning a loud fan and not the best gaming ability in the world, but we need to remember that this card is only $95. If you need a cheap, small card that will allow you to play some older games from time to time, it's a pretty good choice. However, don't expect to be playing any modern games without it being a slide show.
