Gainward GeForce 8800 GT 512MB SLI Config Review
Written by Mavke

Today we benchmarked two GeForce 8800 GT cards and compared them to a GeForce 8800 GTX accelerator. The good old GeForce 8800 GTX card is getting closer to becoming a museum artifact, and especially after it turned out that its younger successor, the newer GeForce 8800 GT offers similar performance at a considerably lower price. This makes us wonder with a multi-GPU config of two GeForce 8800 GT's would bring to the table of gaming performance. Combining the power of two G92's should give quite a boost in overall frame rates and would be amongst the same price range as a single GeForce 8800 GTX accelerator. And that is exactly the purpose of our article, matching the GTX power. - FudZilla

The GeForce 8800 GTX scores better at high resolutions where you need faster and bigger memory, and this card definitely has it. However, at the most common gaming resolutions, the GeForce 8800 GT can almost match the GTX. We did some research and we have learned that the Leadtek WinFast PX8800 GTX at reference speed will set you back about €427. We couldn't get a GeForce 8800 GT for less than €255, and we're talking about BFG cards. Buying two GeForce 8800 GT's is a good deal, it will cost you just a bit more than what you would pay for GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card.

We used two GeForce 8800 GT cards for ouor SLI config, and we used one XFX GeForce 8800 GT Alpha Dog edition running at 670MHz core and 1950MHz memory speed and one Gainward GeForce 8800 GT on stock clocks, but we've overclocked the SLI setup so that both these cards ran at the higher XFX clocks. So, you've seen but a fraction of what the GeForce 8800 GT can do, as well as what two of these cards can do. That shouldn't worry GeForce 8800 GTX owners though, because they’ll be the ones with Tri SLI capabilities when this concept comes of age, they just need to splash out the cash for two more.
