While checking on CoolTechZone I noticed a review on the Chaintech Apogee AA6800. nVidia and ATI launched their latest line of graphics cards a while back, which swayed the industry in a swish. These new wonders, from both companies, were allowing twice as much performance as their predecessors. Both companies were back to tackling each other in performance and value to gain more consumership and we must admit that nVidia definitely proved themselves with the introduction of their 6800 series of video cards.
Chaintech Apogee AA6800 - Turbo Edition 10% Overclocked
Performance analysis for this card is fairly simple to comprehend. Because
of its 10% default overclock, it managed to gain a slight lead against the
standard 6800 card. However, the most interesting battle throughout these tests
was between ATI X800 Pro and Chaintech's AA6800. Both of
these cards were neck-to-neck against each other in performance
ratios.
There were some games that were easily nVidia dominated while other
games sided with ATI. The
positive thing to notice between the three cards is that they have the potential
to be great performers at a fairly stable price point. All cards yielded impressive results at high AA and AF settings and at higher resolutions. This
depicts the improvement that nVidia and ATI
has made on these new architectures.
We are delighted to see the overclocking potential
of the low-end nVidia cards. By overclocking close to 25% above their stock speeds, these cards are sure to be of high value to users with limited budget.
Chaintech made the package even better with their accessories and GOSU. While it wouldn't hurt to add one or two additional full version games, it is not too bad either since you are being presented with one
of the latest games in the market. We are very impressed with GOSU expect for one minute tweak that we mentioned previously. GOSU will unquestionably interest new overclockers and give them comfort with a sleek looking, GUI based overclocking utility.
The last portion of the product that we have to
touch upon is its price. Many online retailers are retailing this card for around $309, but we found a few stores with their prices as low as $281 to $299. If you remember, Gigabyte's 6800 card cost around $288 so there isn't a massive price difference between the two. If you happen to find the card at a minimum price of $309, you will pay 6.94 or 7.00 percent higher than Gigabyte's 6800 card, which is not too dreadful.
The performance is great, the price is desirable,
and the value is fantastic. If you are looking for something to cater to your not-so-high-end needs, this card is undoubtedly a clear contender. |
