Radeon HD 2600 PRO AGP Card Comes in September
Written by Mavke

ATI's Radeon HD 2600 series cards in AGP flavor are set to appear in the first half of September. German and Austrian etailers have already listed a few GeCube cards. And some claim it will have these GeCube Radeon HD 2600 PRO AGP cards on stock early September. This GeCube Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 512MB of DDR2 memory will cost you around $150 to $170, while the 256MB version is just slightly cheaper, ranging from $140 to €$160. Needless to say, it pretty much makes no sense to get the 256MB model at these prices, since you'll save as little as $10. Of course as always although these have been spotted, we have no official news about these AGP versions. - FudZilla

For comparison, you can get GeCube's Radeon HD 2600 PRO, but the PCI Express version with 512MB for $130. On the other hand 512MB won't bring much if any performance increase over 256MB cards. Although they cost about $30-40 more than their PCI Express siblings, ATI's AGP cards should do well, since they are still pretty affordable and NVIDIA has no DirectX 10 cards for AGP. If you want to turn your old AGP machine into a home theater PC, the Radeon HD 2000 series cards are the way to go, as you will get UVD, HDMI and DirectX 10 for peanuts.
