Foxconn is one of the largest computer component manufacturers on the planet, and when it wants to move into a new market, it makes an immediate impact. The secret to Foxconn's incredibly quick success is that the company manufactures mainstream and inexpensive motherboards right alongside killer fast rigs your neighborhood overclocker would give his best optical mouse for. Foxconn is now branching off into retail video cards, using that same quality first approach. The Foxconn Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB is the first graphics card that along side what is a pretty standard reference PCI Express offering comes with a full fledged PS2 like USB game controller. - PCStats Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB Card Review
The GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB looks like a decent alternative to the full fledged GeForce 8800 GTX model, but it's still a bit pricey. Following in the footsteps of the 640MB version of the GTS accelerator is the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB model. With 320MB of onboard GDDR3 memory and the GeForce 8800 GTS GPU, this puppy is getting a lot of attention from gamers who want speed without spending too much. The Foxconn card comes pre-overclocked pretty heavily from the factory. The stock speed of a vanilla GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB is 500MHz core and 1600MHz memory. Out of the box the Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTS OC spins its wheels at 575MHz core and 1800MHz memory, and the geeks in the crowd will recognize those numbers. Indeed, that's as fast as a stock GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card. Based on NVIDIA's G80 architecture, the GeForce 8800 GTS GPU relies upon a unified architecture which allows it to dynamically allocate processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations. The highlights of this GPU include; DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, Quantum Effects technology for physics computation, and 96 stream processors. What makes the Foxconn card unique is its incredibly high clock speeds. Both the core and memory are heavily overclocked, more so than usual from a manufacturer. The GeForce 8800 GTS core comes clocked at 575MHz and the memory hums along at 1800MHz. Best of all at $300, the Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTS OC is still one of the cheaper GeForce 8800 GTS video cards on the market. During testing the Foxconn graphics card was extremely quiet even during high 3D load levels. That's great news for gamers as it is not just fast, it's also quiet. In terms of gaming performance the Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTS OC handled itself nicely. The card duked it out with the GeForce 7950 GX2 for second spot in all of the benchmarks that we threw at it. Even though the Foxconn is already heavily overclocked it was still able to do a bit more hitting a maximum core speed of 650MHz and a 2.0GHz memory operating frequency. Other video card manufacturers better take notice, Foxconn is ready to play whether they're ready or not.
