XFX's GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB looks like being the fastest card on market. It is clocked to amazing 580MHz core and 1800MHz and that is much faster than the reference 500MHz for the core and 1600MHz memory. It is faster than any card including EVGA's and Gainward's but we were informed that anything faster than 560MHz might result in a lot of RMA. XFX took a different approach this time. The company has three different modes. We checked out the fastest version, which is the XFX GeForce 8800 GTS XXX edition, featuring 320MB GDDR3 clocked at 580/1800MHz. Next to this one, XFX has two lower clocked version ate a lower pricing. - The Inquirer XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB XXX Edition Review
The second in line is the XFX GeForce 8800 GTS Extreme, as well coming with 320MB GDDR3, clocked at 560MHz and 1700MHz while the slowest and the cheapest XFX GeForce 8800 GTS, also with 320MB GDDR3 works at reference 500MHz core and 1600MHz memory speed. The slowest is at the same time the cheapest and will cost only €268. All of the cards have 20 ROP's and the memory works in quite odd 320-bit mode. The card supports HDCP and have dual DVI. It is at the moment the cheapest DirectX 10 card which support Shader Model 4.0 technology. It is very clear to us that XFX did a good job. We just hope that card can keep up its warranty life at such a high speeds. XFX GeForce 8800 GTS XXX edition, with 320MB GDDR3 is clearly the winner for games and synthetic benchmarks. The best of all is the fact that 320MB almost never limits your game play. The only case where 320MB card loses from 640MB one was F.E.A.R. with high resolutions. As most of you still use modest resolutions this is nothng to worry about. If you want to go for the HD gaming you should consider a 640MB card. The XFX GeForce 8800 GTS XXX edition is a lot of a card for €325 and we can easily recommend it. The card is up to fifteen percent faster than the NVIDIA reference card and I think that money difference plays off. If you want to play it safe we recommend 550MHz clocked card as it has less of a chance to burn in your long nights of game play. So 320MB version is good and fast and XFX did a great job with it.
