High Performance Results (Cont.)

Indeed I couldn't keep you all from also providing you the Everest benchmark results of the OCZ Special Ops Edition at 800MHz speed but with an overclocked processor. So again once the system was rebooted with our Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, but this time set at 2.80GHz and we fired up Everest Ultimate Edition software suite from Lavalys and started to compile the outcome of the test runs. The memory latency was set manually to the lowest possible, which resulted in 4-4-3-15 for these Limited Edition sticks. So let's dig into the findings of the enhanced DDR2-800 performance.

And to set the records straight the memory ran at 800MHz and with optimized memory timings selected manually. The timings are reported as 4-4-3-15 which is not that common for PC2-6400 ram modules. So once again the latency as depicted by OCZ, but this time with a highly overclocked Core 2 Duo E6300 processor. This means essentially that the memory chips will need to work harder, faster to keep up with the processor and refreshing its date at a quicker pace.

Memory Read Results

So what does it say at 800MHz clock speed for Everest, well we actually put down one hell of a score, namely 12273MB/s. Who will do better? I was amazed at how well these performed and Everest Ultimate Edition just confirmed my impressions. Fast as hell and topping of a top score on performance. Who would have figured that these Special Ops Edition sticks would go that fast? Yeah right, remember what OCZ did mention on their site... Serious gamers put heavy bandwidth requirements on their memory...

Memory Write Results

Once again I am impressed; the OCZ Special Ops Edition memory puts down a score of 7211MB/s. If we compare those with the latest enhanced performance results we notice an impressive boost in bandwidth throughput. Certainly these memory sticks have been designed with only one purpose and that is to please all the gamers out there looking for the fastest computer and gaming experience. Well if you are one of those, then you will need to do some serious thinking of why you didn't have these sticks in your system.

Memory Copy Results

Next on our radar are the copy results which have gone up once again. When going for the 800MHz setting together with the heavy overclocked Core 2 Duo we are seeing an increase of about 1545MB/s related to the fully optimized DDR2-800 operation non overclocked. So the OCZ Special Ops Edition modules certainly have what it takes and more to deliver outstanding performance, and keeps the system running smooth and stable. Top notch performance and great bandwidth results from their limited edition Urban Elite series!

Memory Latency Results

And last but not least the Memory Latency results, which show again a nice decrease to about 49.5ns. Quite a nice score and at least much better than what we have seen with the DDR dual channel memory kits. These OCZ Special Ops Edition PC2-6400 memory modules do have very stable operation and the latency index is just right. The lower the better, well that is exactly what is happening when running these sticks at 800MHz and an extreme fast Core 2 Duo processor!

After having overclocked the Intel Core 2 Duo processor to meet the 800MHz required memory bus speed to fully utilize the hidden potential of the Special Ops Edition Urban Elite dual channel memory kit we are very pleased to have these sticks in our hands. They perform better then I ever expected from any DDR2-800 memory and even deliver excellent performance when just plugged in. OCZ had done it once again, just awesome!
