High Performance Results The OCZ Special Ops Edition sticks have been designed to be used at 800MHz, but also with the high performance in mind. So we are going to use these ram sticks and overclock our system a bit but keeping the memory at 800MHz, though the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor boosted to 2.80GHz. We won't let the mainboard BIOS and SPD chip take care of the memory timings. Instead we actually use the more optimized latency settings of 4-4-3-15! We will check on how the Urban Elite memory will do on our benchmarks.
Float Copy Results By having left the memory bus at 800MHz the OCZ Technology memory is still running at DDR2-800, but the Intel CPU is overclocked by almost 1GHz. This results in an awesome performance level of around 4442MB/s on the Float Copy results. This is certainly again a nice increase over the enhanced performance we have seen so far with an increase of about 900MB/s. Quite impressive to say the least. And then again, these modules do run at PC2-6400 specifications, stable and fast.
Float Scale Results Onto the Float Scale results and we can just draw the line further as also here we see a nice increase of 900MB/s which brings the average to 4466MB/s. We would like to point out that the difference between minimum and maximum is very small as well. Although a bit bigger but that is only normal, the good point about it is that these don't drop below 3370MB/s. And that is quite an achievement, and again that the average and maximum are very close. So no complains on this at all!
Float Add Results The Float Add results are following the same direction and are reaching 4891MB/s on average with a peak of 5167MB/s. Again we get a decent boost of around 730MB/s over the previous results at very tight timings on 800MHz speed. So a higher clocked processor does a lot but still the timings need to be good to get the job done. And that is where OCZ Technology does deliver top notch performance. Once again we want to point you to the excellent average which is close to the maximum bandwidth.
Float Triad Results And to end it all we have the Float Triad results which show as well an improvement and registers an average of 4895MB/s, a comparable increase as we are getting used to. Once again the Special Ops Edition memory has proven to be damn fast and stable. The maximum performs came down to 5170MB/s, which is again very close to the average. Yeah, the competitors should be looking out for these Urban Elite sticks as they are showing excellent performance and stability.
The OCZ Special Ops Edition series just have it all, they did put down an excellent score at a speed of 800MHz with the ability of very tight memory latency and on top of that when they can be used at even higher speeds. With these DDR2-800 ram sticks you get nothing less then the best performance in both environments, either at default settings or with a highly overclocked system. These OCZ Technology memory modules really do deserve the Limited Edition status.
