Let's push the clips to open it the plastic cover and take a look at what we are dealing with. Having removed the memory from the blister plastic wrapping, we notice the heat spreaders on the OCZ Special Ops Edition PC2-6400 2GB kit are grey/brown aluminum, with a sort of light glowing finish around the edges. The lightweight design and army camouflage heatsinks are awesome and stylish to say the least. And quite different from what we are used to see from OCZ's typical heat spreaders. This pair of memory comes in a dual channel kit to ensure compatibility of running dual channel on either an AMD or Intel platform.

OCZ has been known for style and looks and these bad boys are styling! The new Xtreme Thermal Convection heat spreader is laid in what looks like army camouflage. The mirror finish looks amazing against the honeycomb thermal convection grid and mirrors partly reflections into it. It really looks kick ass! What catches our eye is the big Z in the middle of the XTC heat spreader. With this OCZ really makes his memory recognizable to the public. This is not what we are used to see from OCZ, but this design is finding its way through their different memory offerings. And well, it does look neat, don't you think?

The OCZ Special Ops PC2-6400 dual channel modules have the word limited written all over it. These modules are some of the nicest specimens we have seen. The heat spreaders offer a semi mirror like brown/grey finish and are adorned with the OCZ three dimensional Z-sign. The CL 4-4-3-15 timings are one of the most aggressive in the industry, supercharging this ram into new realms and performance needed for today's super fast gaming computers. So, no wonder that these memory stick are marked as limited edition. Just by looks these sticks deserve that title already...

Encased in a brown and grey mirrored aluminum heat spreader to aid in effective heat dissipation, the Urban Elite DDR2-800 Limited Edition is one of the fastest PC2-6400 1024MB memory on the market. The Urban Elite kit has heat spreaders that are slightly different than the original camouflage motif XTC heat spreaders found on the other Special Ops Edition memory modules. While the rest has a camouflage color mixture of black, yellow, green and brown, the Urban Elite kit came with a slightly more aggressive camouflage color mixture of black, grey and brown. If viewed from a distance, the heat spreaders looks black in color but it gets clearer as you take a closer look. The memory modules are provided on a green plate (PCB) with army style passive heat spreaders which are supposed to enhance the cooling of the memory modules, with higher frequencies and/or higher voltages. These modules are fine tuned for optimum performance while looking really awesome.

Unlike most heat spreaders which spread heat through aluminum or copper heat spreaders, OCZ uses honeycomb to build their XTC heat spreaders. These honeycomb grilles helps to improve ventilation within the memory modules and allows the modules to take in more air than usual. To promote heat dissipation, OCZ uses high-quality thermal tapes between the honeycomb and memory chips. These Urban Elite sticks are open at the top to let the hot air out. A lot of heat spreaders are closed at the top, but this design cools better in the end. The heat spreaders also have the very eye-catching urban camo paint on them!
