EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GT CO 256MB PCI-E Review
Written by Mavke

There are probably not too many people who would not like to have a GeForce 7900 GT SLI setup, or a Radeon X1900 XT CrossFire system. If you've got the cash, go live the dream brother! Most of us do not have an unlimited money supply though, and ATI and NVIDIA know this. The bulk of their products go to much more mainstream systems, such as the casual and budget gamer. We're going to look at this budget gamer range today, by taking a closer look at the EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GT CO graphics accelerator. The GeForce 7600 GT is based on the G73 core and is essentially half of NVIDIA's flagship single core product, the GeForce 7900 GTX graphics card. - OCModShop

But since the GeForce 7900 GTX is insanely fast anyway, and the GeForce 7600 GT core and memory are clocked just a little slower than the GeForce 7900 GTX, the GeForce 7600 GT is plenty fast. We can see that EVGA has clocked the e-GeForce 7600 GT CO card up a little from the stock GeForce 7600 GT. About 20MHz higher on the core and 100MHz higher on the memory. That means that the e-GeForce 7600 GT CO comes clocked at 580/1500MHz. Honestly, this is not a whole lot, but it is a freebie! And it will certainly provide EVGA the edge over their competitors with a standard GeForce 7600 GT card.

If you've only got $150, but still want a very realistic and rewarding gaming experience, this is the card for you. Period. As much as I do like the Radeon X1K line, the Radeon X1600 XT simply can't keep up. On top of that, in a year or two, you will likely be able to get the GeForce 7600 GT's on eBay for some cheap SLI action. So there's an inexpensive upgrade path for you too. It is important to note that at the time of this writing, you can get Radeon Radeon X1600 XT for just a little over $100 online. I still say for about $30-50 more you'll get a better gaming experience with the GeForce 7600 GT, just so you know your options.
