nVidia GeForce 6800GT Vs. ATI Radeon X800 Pro Comparison!
Written by Mavke

On Adrian's RojakPot a new article has been published with a comparison between the nVidia GeForce 6800GT and the ATI Radeon X800 Pro. Things were really going badly for nVidia and they have always seemed to be a step behind. But for this third round of the bout, it appears that nVidia is doing better than their past performance. They seem to have gotten back up and have built a solid line-up this time around. What was ATI doing? What does ATI have to say about this? We'll soon find out who has the upper hand this time.

ImagenVidia GeForce 6800GT Vs. ATI Radeon X800 Pro Comparison!

ATI has been at the helm of everything graphical for the past two years with nVidia always trailing behind; always one step short. In this third round into the battle, however, nVidia appears to be holding its ground well against ATI.

With a card that was aimed at competing with the X800Pro, sporting a 16-pipeline architecture and with a cheaper price tag, it's almost a no-brainer here. The reason why I think the 6800GT is a better card is simply because it's a 6800Ultra that has been downclocked and given less power. Another benefit that the 6800GT has over the X800Pro is the better OpenGL implementation support.

On the flipside, the X800Pro is a smaller card and may yield better results if and when ATI manages to revamp their drivers to better support OpenGL. Regardless of which one you choose, they're both are good and fast cards. In the end, however, it all boils down to the saying "you get what you pay for".
