The ATI Radeon X1950 PRO aims to be one of the hottest deals this September. ATI worked hard to finish up its 80 nanometre line and despite a quarter delay of the all 80 nanometre chips, it is finally shaping up for release of the RV570 based cards. This card will work at 600MHz core and 1400MHz memory and will support full blown 256-bit memory interface. ATI plans to launch it in September and we know that chips have sampled for quite some time. The volume shipping is scheduled for late September. This card will have 24 pixel shader pipelines and will support cableless CrossFire, which is quite an improvement to say the least. For about $199 it sounds like a great deal. - The Inquirer
ATI's new Radeon X1950 PRO specifications rock
It all remains to be seen what the RV570 chip is capable off but it does look very promising with quite a high 600MHz core clock speed. Somehow NVIDIA is already anticipating with the GeForce 7900 GT refresh, also know as the GeForce 7950 GT. The NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT will normally work at 550MHz core and 1400MHz memory, so a bit lower clocked though it should better match the Radeon X1950 PRO. Both cards feature a 24 pipelines architecture. So prepare yourself once again for a new clash between the two titans. With all that in mind, September will be quite a busy period.
