NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT pricing drops to €199
Written by Mavke
Thursday, 31 August 2006
There are some special deals going on and NVIDIA is doing some special promotions. It slashed the price of its GeForce 7900 GT to a very sexy €229. And after a user emailed about this Sparkle card, he got a reply that the card will cost him about €199 only. It happens only at a famous German etailer. NVIDIA wants to prepare for ATI's September upgrade and dropping its prices. It is always a good strategy. The company is about to announce its GeForce 7950 GT card so it probably wants to get rid of the GeForce 7900 GT cards as soon as it can. These cards cannot use both HDR and FSAA together but who cares? Getting such great card for around €200 sounds incredible attractive. - The Inquirer

The main goal on the price drop from NVIDIA is certainly to gear up against the mid September real launch and availability of the refresh products from ATI, namely the Radeon X1950 series. But with the GeForce 7950 GT coming as well, NVIDIA has been preparing to take on the lower prices Radeon X1900 series once again. Scheduled as well for mid September the GeForce 7950 GT comes clocked at 550MHz core and 1400MHz on a single PCB. The cooling should be quite similar to the GeForce 7900 GT and it will support DHCP out of the box. NVIDIA is gearing up once again to counter ATI as much as possible.
