Up Close & Personal (Cont.) The bundle is straight forward with no installation software. That's right, there is no drivers or software that is required to run the Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming Headphones. This is a true plug & play headphone, essentially all that is needed is a supporting analog audio card that supports at least 5.1 surround and most of todays systems whether entry level or high end has supporting audio with at least 5.1 capabilities. Below the picture shows you what to expect when you receive your Barracuda HP-1 Gaming Headphones.
What we see below is the HD-DAI™ (Dedicated-Audio-Interface) connector. This is the splitter cable that you will use for your proprietary audio card. With this connector you can use these headphones on any conventional analog audio card. If you choose to use Razer's Barracuda AC-1 Gaming Audio Card, you will not have to use this splitter cable. The headphones will plug directly into the AC-1 Audio Card using the HD-DAI connector.
You will notice the USB connector, this is the power source. You will need to connect all these connectors in order to use the headphones, so make sure you have an available USB port. The splitter cable also contains four mini jacks which consist of a microphone input jack, font speaker input, rear speaker input and center speaker input.
The Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming Headphones is equipped with an active volume control giving full control over the Master Volume, Sub-Woofer Volume, Center Volume, Front Volume, Rear Volume and On/Off switch with three modes. Mode one is Amp and LED on. Mode two is Amp on LED off and mode three is Off.
Each volume control in independently controlled, allowing the user to dial in that perfect amount of volume for each channel. The volume control also controls the LED lights that are incorporated into the the controller and left and right ear phones. Basically, this is the control center for the HP-1 Gaming headphones. Let's check out the detachable microphone.
