The Inquirer learned that the upcoming Radeon X1950 PRO based on the RV570 chip is going to be cheaper than expected. This graphics card is expected in October and will end up with a juicy price of $199. NVIDIA will price its upcoming GeForce 7900 GS at the same price but NVIDIA wants to fight the RV560 chip with this card. The RV570 is a 256-bit memory interface card with 256MB or 512MB memory working at 1100MHz and engine that is suppose to run at a 600MHz or 650MHz core. NVIDIA will have the hard task to fight this one but as it didn't announced anything it will always be able to make some slight changes in its roadmaps to fight this one.

The NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS will be a lower clocked G71 based card, we understand but we don't know what cut down speed it will whirr around at. With the GeForce 7950 GX2 getting a new challanger with the refresh Radeon X1950 XTX graphics card, also the lower end will get its opponents. Once again the battle between red and green to get more market share is up on all fronts. And with the next generation chips only waiting around the corner, we have some exciting times ahead of us. Both ATI and NVIDIA are trying to cover every piece of the market with their products and refresher chips.
