ICY BOX Package Content The RaidSonic ICY BOX IB-NAS2000 series external network enclosure come in one bundle version only, which features the Ethernet and USB 2.0 interface. The ICY BOX IB-NAS2000 comes in a firm box which details on the front the strengths of this external enclosure. On opening the ICY BOX IB-NAS2000 series box our eye falls immediately upon the aluminum black enclosure with the ICY BOX logo on the front. This product is not for the low-level PC enthusiast. This product, as strange as it might sound, is a highly configurable dedicated computer that has everything removed except what's needed to get it attached to an Ethernet LAN and talking to just about any network file system and protocol that is available.
Supplied with the unit are power adapter and lead, USB 2.0 cable, Ethernet cable and Driver CD with Instruction Manual. The cables are well protected and wrapped in a plastic bag. The use of a bespoke power supply is needed to supply both 12V and 5V; the disadvantage is that you are unlikely to find a replacement easily. Although as this is a very reasonably priced item I would expect you would probably replace the whole thing if it were to eventually go wrong. Features Let's check some of the extensive features of the ICY BOX IB-NAS2000 series external network attached storage. By supporting the USB 2.0 transfer speeds with transfer rate up to 480Mbit/s the ICY BOX is also backwards compatible with the USB 1.1 transfer speeds. On top of that the ICY BOX also features an Ethernet LAN interface rated at 10/100Mbit/s. The product itself is in fact a really tiny dedicated computer that is running on an Operating System, so with that in mind the essence of this product is in fact a small server.
When you put all the items together that came out of the box you will really have several items at hand. The Instructions Manual and Installation CD will be found first and then you will still find next to those the different cables, like USB 2.0 and Ethernet network cable. The Instructions Manual features in total two languages, which is essential to setup the network capabilities and access rights. To setup and configure the NAS2000 network solution the manual does come in very handy, outlining the different aspects in a clear manner. - Premium Black Aluminum Case
- Instruction's Manual
- Installation/Software CD
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Cable
- Ethernet LAN Network Cable
- AC Power Adapter (100-240V)

But before moving to the installation, we can't just go on without taking a closer look at the aluminum case that will host the hard drive. The aluminum case consists of different parts, the curved aluminum stand and the actual aluminum housing with the external connections such as the USB 2.0 port, Ethernet LAN interface, power connection, fan speed switch and a power switch. The ICY BOX enclosure itself looks quite impressive...
