Coming from PCStats is a review on the ASUS Extreme N7600 GT 256MB Silent graphics card. Much of NVIDIA's success with videocard GPU's is due to the company's nForce market penetration, the symbiotic relationship between the two has allowed new technologies into the fold which further leverage NVIDIA core strength, graphics. The GeForce 7600 GT GPU takes over from where the GeForce 6600 GT left off, continuing the tradition of feature packed, economical, mainstream video cards for the masses that play like little mini performance cards. In other words, you can save a few hundred bucks by buying a couple GeForce 7600 GT's to run in SLI for performance like a GeForce 7800 GTX.
ASUS Extreme N7600 GT 256MB Silent Review
ASUS has embraced the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT GPU and released a video card which is not only ideally suited towards the occasional gamer and even hardcore gamer on a budget, but also doubles up the value by offering 100% silent operation which makes it ideal for home theatre PC's or just anyone who wants a quiet computer. The TV output and HDTV output capabilities of the ASUS Extreme N7600 GT Silent work hand in hand with its 256MB GDDR3 memory and its 560MHz strong GPU to provide a strong feature set for anyone walking down the multimedia path.
Like most modern PCI Express video cards, the ASUS Extreme N7600 GT Silent is built on the GeForce 7600 core featuring a 90 nanometer manufacturing process. The GeForce 7600 GT generates a moderate amount of heat, but rather than slap on a big thermal solution that sounds like a vacuum cleaner ASUS have opted for a large dual heatpipe heatsink which uses system airflow and is completely silent, the company call it SilentCool. The core clock speed jumps to 560MHz but it's the memory which greatly increases in speed and runs at 1400MHz. The memory controller bandwidth stays at 128-bits.
Have you been thinking about upgrading your graphics card? Well guess what, that time is now. There's no reason to wait any longer for mainstream graphics goodness. The NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT is a very worthy successor to the GeForce 6600 GT, and a cost effective solution for anyone shopping with a realistic budget. Even though the clock speed of the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT is only slightly faster than the GeForce 6600 GT, adding those additional four pixel pipelines has greatly increased the GeForce 7600 GT's rendering power. Coupled with some super fast memory and it's no wonder to deliver stunning performance.
On the whole the ASUS Extreme N7600 GT Silent is a very well rounded PCI Express video card. It boasts good 3D performance and multimedia output options in a completely silent package, employs a novel cooling solution, doesn't require extra power adaptors, and overclocks smoothly. The ASUS Extreme N7600 GT Silent can be used in a whole host of situations where silent operation is of paramount importance, but of course this kind of innovation costs slightly more than the average GeForce 7600 GT would. At $221 the Extreme N7600 GT Silent is priced within the range of most gamers.
It's great to see that GeForce 7600GT card can be had for less than what range of most gamers and it's great to see that GeForce 7600 GT card can be had for less than what the GeForce 6600 GT first retailed for. If you're itching to upgrade the ASUS Extreme N7600 GT Silent is definitely a sweet video card; it's fast, it's silent and an excellent value. We haven't seen value like this in a long time and the GeForce 7600 GT certainly has a bright future...
