ATI's upcoming Radeon X1950 XTX and the CrossFire edition of that card are to get a new cooler. Too many people were objecting about the noise of the cooler and ATI finally listened to them and redesigned the cooler. Our first information indicates that the cooler will be very much like the Arctic Cooling you can find on the HIS Radeon X1900 cards. This one is already more efficient than the current cooler designed by ATI. As a prototype, it cooled the chip to nine degrees below its rival. Quite an improvement over the default ATI cooler, and on top of that the noise levels have been reduced as well. This will play in favor of the new upcoming Radeon X1950 cards, and just what the public wanted.

Just to confirm, it is still a dual slot cooler and the cards are expected in middle of next month, with the new R580+ cores and the new GDDR4 memory on board, of course. As already mentioned before, the clock speeds should remain unchanged related to the Radeon X1900 XTX. So the Radeon X1950 XTX should come out clocked at 650MHz core, but a 2000MHz memory speed. That is the advantage of the GDDR4 memory chips which can be clocked quite high. With the Radeon X1950 XTX, we will get a new competitor to the NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2, although you might doubt if it will be enough to take the lead.
