ATI's upcoming R580+ based card will sit at around the €399 price mark when it arrives next month. We expect it to start off at €419 but will soon drop to €399. ATI wants to push this card hard and is dropping the price to fight NVIDIA's GeForce 7950 GX2 card. It will still be slower than the doubled-up GeForce 7950 GX2 but we are sure that two Radeon X1950 XTX's will beat the single GeForce 7950 GX2. It may even give quad SLI to run for its money. The cards will surface in late August and should be available from launch. We know that they will use GDDR4 memory and that will end up seven percent faster from the current Radeon X1900 XTX cards.

It will still need a CrossFire board but might have some other nice and cool features. We hear it will have a new cooler, to make it nice and quiet, for instance. In the end it should be a better chip than the R580 and will give the GeForce 7950 GX2 some extra competition. Let's just hope that the Radeon X1950 XTX can make up all those expectations and has learned from the Radeon X1900 experience. With August just around the corner, the summer will be an exciting period once again. The Radeon X1950 XTX would be going up against Quad SLI. But what about NVIDIA, or they up to something?
