Overclock3D reports about a review on the Gainward BLISS 7900 GTX 512MB PCIe graphics card. Gainward are well known for making NVIDIA cards and for making them well. After checking a single GeForce 7900 GTX I wanted to see what they could do in SLI configuration, and whether SLI has matured into a platform that really is worth shouting about. NVIDIA have worked hard at making SLI something that its customers and major AIB's really want to push. But do you really get enough performance out of the two cards to make it worth the extra cost? Gainward supplied us with a pair of BLISS 7900 GTX cards to get to the bottom of the SLI performance.

As far as the Gainward BLISS 7900 GTX is concerned, it follow the actual reference design from NVIDIA. The Gainward is based upon the NVIDIA G70 chip which features a total of 24 pixel pipelines, Shader Model 3.0 and SLI technology. This means as well that Gainward stuck to the default settings of 650MHz core and 1600MHz memory clock speed. In that extend it is really a reference NVIDIA card, with just the brand indication changed to Gainward. Of course the bundle itself is more than that and is quite extensive. This way Gainward sets a high standard and differentiates itself from the competition.
I've said it before, there is no reason for NVIDIA's AIB's to change the cooling on the GeForce 7900 GTX card. The reference cooler is excellent. I was very happy when I saw that Gainward had decided to stick with the gorgeous, quiet heatpipe cooler that I have seen on the rest of the GeForce 7900 GTX's. I can't be more full of praise for the cooler on the Gainward BLISS 7900 GTX card. This cooler is quiet and keeps the card incredible cool even when heavily overclocked. If you want a very powerful card with an incredibly efficient, quiet cooler that performs very well even in SLI mode then look no further.
I am a big fan of the high-end cards from NVIDIA and these Gainward BLISS 7900 GTX's are very impressive. With a cooling solution that performs very well and is almost silent this could be part of the ultimate gaming machine or even an HTPC or media PC. Gainward have put in an impressive bundle with these cards and there is nothing lacking with the hardware bundle at all. I am very impressed with this very top-end card setup and am now seriously considering SLI in my own gaming rig. It is worth considering the GeForce 7950 GX2? Will, if you already have a GeForce 7900 GTX you can't go wrong.
