Overclockers Club brings us a review on the XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX 256MB PCIe graphics card. Very impressive black PCB, unlike the blue that I'm used to seeing on NVIDIA based products. The product I'm referring to is the XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX edition. The black PCB gives it an aura of being dominant. This video gaming card is one of XFX's mainstream products, so hopefully after running our tests it'll prove to not only be a money saver but also a performer. As I have stated many times, for a consumer, packaging is a must. If the packaging doesn't grab your eye, you might not give it a second look. The XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX comes packaged very well; the image on the box jumps out and grabs you.
XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX 256MB PCI-E Review
The XFX design of the GeForce 7600 GTX XXX edition is following the reference set by NVIDIA. The main difference that sets this XXX edition apart from the competition are the clock speeds. XFX has raised the bar once again and set these to an amazing 590/1600MHz level. The NVIDIA reference speeds are only set at 560/1400MHz, so this proves that XFX has a real winner on their hands and are quite confident in their GeForce 7600 GT design. Of course this card is rated a bit more expensive then a normal GeForce 7600 GT card, but this is quite logic with the added value provided.
As a mainstream graphics board the XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX matched up very well to its two competitors. The reason why I chose the PowerColor Radeon X800 GTO was due to it having 12 pixel pipelines which matches the XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX. The other graphics board, XFX GeForce 6800 GT was due to it being a GeForce 6 series chipset. It also has 16 pixel pipelines. While running the benchmarks I realized how much extra pipelines can make a difference. The GeForce 6800 GT held very well compared to the GeForce 7600 GT XXX and at times even bettered it.
Where the GeForce 7600 GT XXX gets it's power is from it's memory and core clocks being 590/1600MHHz, where the GeForce 6800 GT is only 350/1000MHz. If your budget won't allow you to buy one of the high-end graphics boards, then the XFX GeForce7600 GT XXX can more than suffice. It will play the latest games and allow you to watch HDTV on your computer. It is also Windows Vista compatible.
