The PowerColor Package Time to take a peak inside and open up the package we gotten from PowerColor, which includes the Radeon X1600 PRO AGP 512MB video card. As you can already guess the main hardware of the package is the graphics card itself, but next to that we also found several extra components. The box is small though attractive and very detailed; on the other hand the same can be said from the PowerColor video card as well. Quite a small card, but with all features you can ask for. Let's checkout the package and find out what else is included from PowerColor.
Looking at the package, it certainly is quite colorful just as the PowerColor board itself. Next to the Radeon X1600 PRO AGP graphics card you will find some extra items in the package. These will come in handy when installing or finding our some more details on the video card itself and what you can expect. Components - PowerColor Radeon X1600 PRO AGP Board
- PowerColor Driver Setup CD
- DVI to VGA Adapter
- 4-pin "Y" Power Cable
- S-Video Cable
- PowerColor Quick Installation Guide
- CyberLink Software Bundle
- PowerColor BIOS Upgrade CD

Once we opened the box we found quite some things included in the PowerColor bundle. First, and most important we found was the Quick Installation Guide. It isn't really a manual, but more a big paper that you need to unfold to get the information required. Although quite small, it covers 15 different languages with all the needed information on the installation of the video card, drivers and the extra components. Next to the manual a DVI to VGA adapter is included. This might be useful when using a dual screen setup as the Radeon X1600 PRO comes with a DVI connection and VGA connection.
Going further through the bundle, we came across several CD's. Of course the Driver CD is the main one that we will need to be able to use the PowerColor Radeon X1600 PRO in our computer. This CD consists of the Catalyst driver that is needed to support any ATI based graphics card. Next to that PowerColor also added a CD with lots of CyberLink DVD software and a CD with a Radeon X1600 PRO OC BIOS upgrade. The OC suffix means that this is an official overclocking BIOS from PowerColor. And last but not least two cables, a 4-pin split power cable and an S-Video cable. The 4-pin molex split cable is very useful for those who ran out of power cables. There isn't much missing out of this hardware kit.
Now that we have checked the content of the PowerColor bundle, and know what is included we can finally get to the most interesting point the card itself, namely the PowerColor Radeon X1600 PRO AGP. As you might have spotted already this is not the ordinary Radeon X1600 PRO, but a bolder card as it features a total of 512MB memory. This might seem to be an overkill for the card, but will come in handy with the current and yet to be released game titles which take up quite some frame buffer. Let's see how this card it build and dig deeper into the details of this graphics accelerator board.
