Connect3D Radeon X1800 GTO 256MB PCI-E Review
Written by Mavke

Bona Fide Reviews reports about a review on the Connect3D Radeon X1800 GTO 256MB PCIe graphics card. The Radeon X1800 GTO, the latest addition to the Radeon X1800 family, was launched back in March but only became available to buy in stores just last month. The GTO label is used to identify a card as a budget graphics solution. In the case of this card the Radeon X1800 GTO is quite similiar to the higher-end Radeon X1800 XL with the only difference being the number of pixel pipelines. The Radeon X1800 GTO features 12 pipes while the XL and XT versions have a full 16. The GTO and XL do run at the same core and memory clock speeds; 500MHz and 1GHz respectively.

Connect3D's Radeon X1800 GTO comes packaged in their classic packaging with some features of the card labeled along the left side of the box. A couple important features not listed are the card's inherient ability to run in CrossFire mode as well as its Avivo capabilities. On top of that, Connect3D has packaged their X1800GTO with every cable a user would need to utilize its input and output formats. The Connect3D solution comes installed with the stock cooler featuring ATI's famous female and logo plastered on the heatsink. The heatsink isn't simply a solid metal block but rather nicely designed single slot cooler.

Overall, the Connect3D Radeon X1800 GTO is a nice addition to their Radeon X1800 line. It slightly cuts back on performance when compared to the Radeon X1800 XT but the price difference of around $100 makes the GTO a much more attractive purchase. The GTO features all of the same goodies as the other Radeon X1800 cards including Avivo, HDTV, and CrossFire support. Even better is the fact that the GTO can run in CrossFire mode without any dongle or master card as long as it is running on a Xpress 3200 motherboard. For now it seems as though the Radeon X1800 GTO is a great way to go.
