ICY BOX Package Content The RaidSonic ICY BOX IB-360 series external drive enclosures come in different bundle versions and amongst those is the USB 2.0/FireWire enclosure which we have in our hands today. The ICY BOX IB-360UE-BL comes in a firm box which details on the front the strengths of this external drive enclosure. On opening the ICY BOX IB-360UE-BL box our eye falls immediately upon the aluminum grey enclosure with the ICY BOX logo on the front.
Supplied with the unit are power adapter and lead, USB 2.0 cable, FireWire cable and Driver CD with Instruction Manual. The cables are well protected and wrapped in a plastic bag. The use of a bespoke power supply is needed to supply both 12V and 5V; the disadvantage is that you are unlikely to find a replacement easily. Although as this is a very reasonably priced item I would expect you would probably replace the whole thing if it were to eventually go wrong. Features Let's check some of the extensive features of the ICY BOX IB-360UE-BL USB 2.0/FireWire series external 3.5" HDD case. - Elegant 3,5" Aluminum HDD Case
- Plug & Play and Hot Swap
- Blue LED Lighting
- USB 2.0 & 1394a Host Interface
- Power Adapter, Data Cable Inclusive
- Without Disk Capacity Limit
- Supports Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and Mac (as of OS 9.0)

By supporting the USB 2.0 transfer speeds with transfer rate up to 480Mbit/s the ICY BOX is also backwards compatible with the USB 1.1 transfer speeds. On top of that the ICY BOX also features a FireWire 400 interface rated at 400Mbit/s.
When you put all the items together that came out of the box you will really have several items at hand. The Instructions Manual and Installation CD will be found first and then you will still find next to those the different cables, like USB 2.0 and FireWire cable. The Instructions Manual features in total five languages for those who really want to go through it. As it is a rather straight forward process the manual is nice to have but nothing more. - Premium Aluminum Case
- Instruction's Manual
- Installation/Software CD
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Cable
- FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a) Cable
- AC Power Adapter (100-240V)

But before moving to the installation, we can't just go on without taking a closer look at the aluminum case that will host the hard drive. The aluminum case consists of different parts, the curved aluminum stand and the actual aluminum housing with the external connections such as the USB 2.0 port, dual FireWire interface, power connection, and a power switch. The ICY BOX enclosure itself looks quite impressive.
