ATI calls it the Radeon X1900 GT, and it is better specified than we might have expected the Radeon X1900 GTO to be. The Radeon X1900 GTO was supposed to sport the chip firm's R580 chip but it won't, as this is delayed, so instead it will use the RV570 chip. We might have assumed that the Radeon X1900 GTO would be clocked at 500/1000MHz, but this won't be the case. Instead, the Radeon X1900 GT is clocked at 575MHz for the core and 1200MHz for the memory. So, as it turns out, the Radeon X1900 GT which is R580 based is pretty much a renamed GTO with a better specification that we all expected. This might be a sign that not too many chips are falling out...
ATI's upcoming Radeon X1900 GT to cost $350
No one expected this card to have more than a 500MHz core clock. We also learned that the card will cost be around $350. It is meant to compete with NVIDIA's GeForce 7900 GT that is selling for around $300 already. ATI's solution will be more expensive so we are sure it will eventually have to drop the price. This won't be an OEM only card you will be able to get them in retail. Samples are expected next week and the cards should be anounced and available during the second week of May. It is a single slot card.
