Copper Heatpipe Technology

The heatpipe technology isn't new and has been applied in computer cooling for years. Although only recently it has become a more common technology that is applied to several processor and video card cooling solutions. But what is a heatpipe? A heatpipe is a simple device that can quickly transfer heat from one point to another, which is usually used for cooling an electronic component.

The principle behind the heatpipe technology is simple though very effective. While at one side the heat will build up and vaporize the liquid in the heatpipe, at the top it will get cooled down and condensation will occur and the liquid flows back. By applying this technique the cooling efficiency greatly improves.

Final Thoughts

You have to hand it to Spire; the VertiCool II CPU cooler is an outstanding cooling solution with an innovative design. Side-blowing coolers aren't that common, although other brands and vendors have also adopted this approach for some series of their CPU cooling solutions. To make the side-blowing fan more efficient, Spire utilized copper heatpipes to draw the heat to the upper part of the heatsink. The compactness of this heatsinks heatpipe technology puts it in a category of its own. The price is right, and the quality is all there.

Spire is known for its cost effective heatsinks because of its quality inside attitude, the copper base is a very good choice to be more effective as a cooling solution as a hole. The VertiCool II will definitely tame a most high-end processors and offer superior cooling over retail heatsink. We would have liked to see a fan with blue LED's to match the blue color of this Spire VertiCool II CPU cooler and of course enhance the inside of your computer. Perhaps Spire will add that in the future. In the end we are very impressed with this Spire VertiCool II heatsink for its overall design and performance. Well done Spire!

If you are looking for a silent air cooling solution there are only a few on the market that we would recommend, the Spire Verticool II CPU cooler has just been added to that list. There may be quieter coolers on the market, but they usually come at twice the price. So you really can't go wrong with this one!
